Breast Cancer Awareness Events 2020

More than likely, someone close to you currently has or has had breast cancer. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Fortunately, great strides are being made in an effort to find a cure and eradicate breast cancer. October is breast cancer awareness month, a time to celebrate survivors, and support those who are currently battling breast cancer and those who will in the future. If you’re wondering how you can show your support during breast cancer awareness month and all throughout the year, then you have come to the right place. Let’s take a look at how you can take a stand against breast cancer.

Raise Awareness By the Way You Dress

Pink is nationally recognized as the color for breast cancer awareness. Wear pink and/or breast cancer awareness clothing to spread the word to everyone you cross paths with of the importance of breast cancer research.

Utilize Facebook and other Social Media Platforms to Raise Awareness

Social media is a powerful platform to have your voice heard. Almost everyone has a Facebook account, which makes it a great way to spread the message to the masses. Here are some great ways you can use Facebook to raise breast cancer awareness:

  • Change your profile picture to reflect your support and awareness of breast cancer.
  • Take a photo of you and your friends, family, or coworkers wearing pink. You can share it on your social media accounts with the hashtag #PinkPose
  • Make it a challenge: For every breast cancer awareness post you make, you can tag friends and ask them to share the post or donate to breast cancer research.
  • Begin a fundraiser on Facebook with the Support Nonprofit option. This is a great way to not only raise awareness but support your favorite charity as well.

Shop at Stores that Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

Give your business to stores that openly show their support for breast cancer awareness. Many businesses will donate a certain amount of the proceeds to breast cancer research and breast cancer charities. If your favorite stores are not participating, ask management if they would consider donating to the cause.

Make a Donation

Make a donation to the breast cancer charity of your choice. You can make a donation in the name of a loved one who has battled or is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. You can also ask your oncologist or care provider which foundations support their mission in the fight against breast cancer.

Volunteer Your Time

Making a donation isn’t the only way to give to breast cancer charity organizations. You can also donate your time. Contact the breast cancer awareness charity of your choice and ask for ways that you can donate your time to make a difference and join the fight in preventing and curing breast cancer forever!

Organize a Fundraiser

If you are looking for a more local way to show your support, you can either join or start a local fundraiser with your family and friends. Ideas include:

  • Hold a carwash
  • Host a bake sale
  • Organize a 5k
  • Silent Auction
  • Trivia Night
  • Ice Cream Social

The possibilities are endless when it comes to the types of fundraisers you can organize.
